KUALA LUMPUR WORLD BOOK CAPITAL 2020
On 19th September 2018, Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay named Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia as the World Book Capital for the year 2020. Kuala Lumpur was selected on the recommendation by the World Book capital Advisory Committee, comprising representatives of the International Publishers Association (IPA), the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) and UNESCO based on applications received from cities all over the world.

Kuala Lumpur was founded on the confluence of two rivers but 150 years of the city's organic development has turned away from the rivers and left them unattended. It is time to bring life back to the rivers.
